Who was Frants Diderik Bøe?

Frants Diderik Bøe was a Norwegian painter, who specialized in still lifes and landscapes. He is also known by the names Frants Diderik Böe or the French version Francis Didier Boe or Franz Didrik Boe.

He was born in Bergen, and later studied art in Copenhagen. In 1849, he moved to Paris, where he studied under the expatriate Danish painter Theude Grønland. After eight years in Paris, he returned to Norway. He lived in Nordland in 1858–1861 and 1863–1864, painting landscapes and scenes from nature.

He married Hanna Maria Arnesen in 1864 and lived the rest of his life in Bergen.
