Who is Fredked SamBriu?

Fredked Sambriu was born in Coimbra, Portugal on December 31st, 1993. At six months of age, he moved back to Cape Verde with his mother, where he grew up in the capital city Praia. In 2006 at the age of 12, he moved to the city of Boston in the United States, where his love for music started to take its course. He attended St. Patrick middle school in Boston, MA. During his high school years, he attended North Cambridge Catholic High up until his sophomore year, following his transfer to Quincy High School until graduation. Shortly after graduating high school, he joined the Cape Verdean record label SamBriu Music Group in 2014.

2014-17: Early Career and growing popularity

Shortly after partnering up with his label, he commenced his music career with a successful release of his EP, Mural Di Feru, Vol. 1, where popular Cape Verdean Hip-Hop artists such as Young G SamBriu and Loreta KBA, were key features in the EP. From Mural Di Feru, Vol. 1, Amor Ta Dueh B'weh was one of the hit songs dominating the charts internationally that established a massive fanbase for the SamBriu artist.

During his first tour in Cape Verde to promote Mural Di Feru, Vol. 1, Fredked SamBriu kicked off by firstly performing in Cockpit Club[1] and various other venues throughout Santiago island. He ended his tour performing at the Summer Beach Party festival in Praia, where he had the opening act for Loony Johnson. By then, his hit song Amor Ta Dueh B'weh had already won a few No. 1 on "Top 7", a voting program on Praia FM radio station. Also on CVMix, Amor Ta Dueh B'weh was voted No. 1 eleven weeks consecutively.

2017-19: First album release

In February 2017, Fredked released his debut album DOMINVSON, receiving astounding recognition within the Cape Verdean Hip-Hop industry. His collaboration with artists like Young G SamBriu, Helio Batalha, Loreta KBA, remarkably met the expectations his fans had from him. With S K M T X (Si Ki Mi Ta Xinti), Noti Di Champagne, A Bela e o Monstro, and Sta Na Bu Bera leading the album as the most streamed songs, DOMINVSON became a very popular album in Cape Verde.

During his album tour in the summer of 2017, SamBriu Music Group, MBM Records & Fidju Txada Records brought along Djey S and Manzano. On the roster, Helio Batalha, Cesf and Dibaz MOB were invited to share the stage at the main tour concert in Praia. For his final show, Fredked SamBriu opened the stage for Yasmine at Hangar 7, one of the biggest show venues in Praia.

2020: Mural di Feru, vol. 2 and Endless, ep

After five years since the release of the first volume of "Mural Di Feru", SamBriu Music Group made an announcement that Fredked SamBriu was working on the awaited volume 2 of "Mural Di Feru". After being released on March 13th, 2020, Mural Di Feru Vol, 2 charted number 2 on Apple Music Top 100: Cape Verde for 2 consecutive weeks. From trap, dancehall, and RnB, the EP had a strong track list and a solid roster of collaborations.

Following the release “Mural Di Feru Vol. 2”, Fredked Sambriu presented his fans with “Endless”, an EP totally different from what he had already prepared. In this project, he focused on a tropical, warm, melodic, and dancing sound, with Jamaican and Cape Verdean influences. The inspiration came from artists like Popcaan, Dexta Daps, Jada Kingdom, Mavado, Vybz Kartel, and by the tradition of his native country as you can hear any single “Dimeu” featuring Dieg. “Endless” consists of 6 tracks with the following participations: Kiddye Bonz, Djey S, P Reaper SamBriu, and Dieg.
