Who is Friedrich Karl Wilhelm Dönitz?
Professor Dr. med. Friedrich Karl Wilhelm Dönitz or Doenitz was a German anatomist, zoologist and entomologist.
In 1865 Friedrich Karl Wilhelm Dönitz began to study at the University of Berlin where he became a lecturer in anatomy. On 10 July 1873 he left Germany to teach anatomy in Japan. He stayed in Japan for three years. During vacations he studied Myriapoda, Arachnida and Mollusca and collected these in Hakone, Odawara and Fuji.
Wilhelm Dönitz also studied Culicidae and Lepidoptera. His collection of Palaearctic Lepidoptera is in Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin.
