Who is Glenn Mitchell?

Glenn Mitchell is a former sports commentator and writer for Australian Broadcasting Corporation Radio's Grandstand program in Perth.

He joined ABC Radio Sport in January 1990 with commentaries on Australian rules football and cricket.

At the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games, he was cycling commentator for ABC Local Radio and at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, for cycling and netball. He co-hosted the opening and closing ceremonies.

Mitchell covered the 1996 Paralympic Games for ABC TV, commentating cycling and track and field events, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies.

He has covered Australian cricket tours overseas, in Sri Lanka in 1999 and India in 2001, where he commentated alongside Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle. Along with Jim Maxwell, he is one of the core cricket commentators for the ABC.

He has called Australian Football League and West Australian Football League Australian rules football matches. He has called National Basketball League and Women's National Basketball League basketball.

Mitchell is executive producer, sport, for ABC Western Australia.

Mitchell has been on the board of the Western Australian Sports Federation and the Coaching Federation of Western Australia. He is a director of the Western Australia Paralympic Committee. In 1998 he edited Pursuing Excellence, a biography of Western Australia's sportswomen for the Women's Sport Foundation of Western Australia.
