Who is Homer D. Hagstrum?

Homer Dupre Hagstrum was an American physicist who specialized in surface physics. Hagstrum was a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the chairman of Division of Electron and Atomic Physics of American Physical Society, Head of Surface Physics Research at Bell Labs. He was a recipient of Davisson Germer Prize and Medard W. Welch Award. The National Academies Press called Hagstrum "a pioneer who created many ideas and techniques of modern surface physics".
