Who is Howard Camner?

Howard Camner is an author, poet, screenwriter, playwright, and songwriter. Camner has written 21 poetry books including the Pulitzer Prize nominated "Poems from the Mud Room", the humor book "Happy Birthday to ...Who? The Definitive No Holds Barred Father's Guide to Surviving Kids' Birthday Parties, the autobiography "Turbulence at 67 Inches", and the critically acclaimed mixed genre novel "The Greatest Novel Ever Written". He was a founding member of New York's Literary Outlaws and the West End Poetry Troupe. His work has been published worldwide in singular anthologies, anthology series, and literary journals. His play "Flaming Floss" was featured at Edward Albee's Last Frontier Theatre Conference in Valdez, Alaska in 2003 and he produced and hosted the Century Cable comedy talk show "Life is a Four-Letter Word" out of Los Angeles. The show has been placed in the Barco Television Archives, the Paley Center for Media Archives, the UCLA Film and Television Archives, and The American Comedy Archives. Camner has received numerous awards and accolades for his writing including the nomination for Poet Laureate of Florida in 1980, the first Annual MiPo Literary Award, the Fine Arts Press Poetry Award, induction into the Homer Honor Society and induction into the Miami-Dade College Hall of Fame for Literary Arts. He was named "Best Poet in Miami" in the Miami New Times "Best of Miami" edition of 2007. He received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award in 2021. His books and sound recordings of his work is housed in historical archives in the United States and royal libraries in Great Britain. His major works are preserved in the Emerson Archives.
