Who is Joey Medina?

Joey Medina, a Puerto Rican who was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, is one of the freshest and funniest comedians around today. Medina spent most of his teen years perfecting his boxing skills that would one day earn him a state championship as a professional and a shot at the world title before becoming a heavy hitter in the comedy arena. He headlines comedy clubs, casinos, and theaters throughout the United States and has also toured Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. He has proudly performed for the United States Armed Forces during wartime in Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwait, and Iraq, as well as the USS Roosevelt aircraft carrier. Recently, he starred in Latin Palooza, a hilarious DVD that Medina hosted and produced, which followed his award-winning debut comedy CD Below the Belt. Medina also starred in Paramount Pictures; The Original Latin Kings of Comedy with Cheech Marin, Paul Rodriguez, George Lopez, and Alex Reymundo. He can also be seen on the Cheech Marin & Friends: Live from South Beach DVD by Comedy Central and the Comedy on Steroids DVD distributed by Laughing Hyena. His first screenplay El Matador, in which he made his directorial debut, swept the eighth annual East LA Chicano Film Festival in 2002 by winning the Best Film, Best Director, and Best Acting awards. The film is currently available on DVD through Maverick Entertainment Group. Medina wrote, produced, and hosted Si TV's first scripted television show, Circumsized Cinema. It was executive produced by award-winning film producer Moctesuma Esparza of Selena. The show re-edited campy Mexican movies into 30-minute mini-movies with totally new, scripted, English audio tracks for a hilarious and utterly original half-hour television show. In addition, Medina is also recognized as one of the hosts and producers of Loco Comedy Jam, a stand up comedy show featuring some of the best Latino comedians in the country on mun2 Television. He also wrote a screenplay for R&B artists Baby Bash and Chingo Bling called Primos and is currently in pre-production on his fifth screenplay entitled Revenge of the Mexicans. Medina is a veteran of over 50 television appearances and has also co-starred with Danny Trejo and B-Real from the rap group Cypress Hill in the film Devil Inside. Medina just finished co-starring in the action/comedy Zombie Strippers! with Jenna Jameson and Robert Englund. Latina Style Magazine says, Medina is one of the few comedians that can bridge together urban with mainstream comedy to make his style a hit throughout the country.
