Who was John Buchanan?
John Nevile Buchanan MC, DSO, was a South African born English cricketer. Buchanan was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium-fast. He was born in Grahamstown, Cape Colony and educated at Charterhouse School in England, where he played for and captained the school cricket team, before undertaking studies at Cambridge University. He later served in World War I, becoming by wars end a highly decorated officer.
