Who is Keren Hanan?
Keren Hanan, Greek-Israeli concert pianist, has been playing piano since she was eight years old. She started studying with Hanna Shalgi and Pnina Salzman. In her younger years, Keren was the recipient of various national awards. She has also won many American-Israel Foundation scholarships. At the age of 17, Keren moved to Boston and continued her studies at the New England Conservatory with Wha Kyung Byun, afterwards in Tel Aviv with Prof. Arie Vardi, and subsequently in Italy, under Franco Scala and Antonio Ballista.
Keren has given recitals throughout the world, including in New York, Boston, Rome, London, Budapest, Vietnam and China. She appeared as a soloist with youth orchestras in Israel and Europe, and, at the age of 15 performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In the last few years, she has played with the Budapest Festival Orchestra, the New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra in New York, the Belgrade Philharmonic and with Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. In May 2007, Keren played with the Dohnanyi Orchestra in special event for the State of Israel at the Palace of Arts. Also in 2008, she played and conducted a string orchestra in Budapest.
