Who is Lawrence McGrandles Jr.?
Lawrence is the eldest of three children born to Cathy and Lawrence McGrandles Senior, his father, a builder from Belfast who passed away in 1999. Lawrence junior grew up in London and spent every summer with his grandparents on their farm just outside the small fishing village of Bantry on the west coast of Ireland. Lawrence attended an all boys school until the age of sixteen when, for his drama lessons, he had to attend an all girls school nearby. After spending time working in jobs ranging from selling tents to labouring on building sites, Lawrence was accepted onto a one year acting course. Upon graduation he was accepted at Drama Centre London where he trained for a further three years. Among his friends at Drama Centre were Michael Fassbender, who by coincidence came from the same part of Ireland as Lawrence and Russell Brand. Lawrence completed his drama training on a Friday and started work the following Monday on an opera directed by Drama Centre graduate Simon Callow. His West End theatre debut was in Amadeus, which starred Michael Sheen and David Suchet, he worked again with David on Poirot: Evil Under The Sun (2001).
