Who is Lothar Hay?
Lothar Hay, né le 29 mai 1950 à Hattstedt, est un homme politique allemand membre du Parti social-démocrate d'Allemagne.
Après avoir été président du conseil municipal de Flensburg à la fin des années 1980, il est élu député au Landtag du Schleswig-Holstein en 1992, et prend quatre ans plus tard la présidence de la commission des Finances. En 1998, il est désigné président du groupe SPD et exerce ce mandat jusqu'à sa nomination comme ministre de l'Intérieur dans la grande coalition de Peter Harry Carstensen, en 2008. Contraint de quitter le gouvernement par la rupture de l'alliance en 2009, il est réélu peu après député régional pour un cinquième mandat.
