Who is Luigi Barbarito?
Luigi Barbarito, is an Italian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church.
Barbarito was born in Atripalda and ordained a priest on 20 August 1944. He was appointed titular archbishop of the Fiorentino as well as Apostolic Nuncio of Haiti on 10 June 1969. He was ordained a bishop on 10 August 1969. He was appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio to Niger and Senegal as well as Apostolic Delegate to Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania and Mali on 5 April 1975. He was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to the Apostolic Nunciature of Australia on 10 June 1978, and appointed to the Apostolic Nunciature of Great Britain on 21 January 1986, where he remained as the delegate until his retirement on 31 July 1997.
Barbarito was appointed an Honorary Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order by Queen Elizabeth II in 1996.
