Who is Marama Russell?
Marama Russell was a notable New Zealand midwife and tribal leader. Of Māori descent, she identified with the Nga Puhi, Ngati Whatua and Te Roroa iwi. She was born in Waimamaku, Northland, New Zealand in about 1875.
