Who is Oriol Junqueras i Vies?
Oriol Junqueras i Vies is a Catalan historian and politician. He is the current mayor of Sant Vicenç dels Horts and has been the president of the Republican Left of Catalonia since 17 September 2011. In the Catalan elections held on 25 November 2012, the electoral list headed by Junqueras won 21 seats in the 135-member Parliament of Catalonia, the second-best showing after Convergence and Union, which won 50.
