Who is Paul Fisher?

Paul Gregory Fisher is a British economist, and is Executive Director of the Bank of England's Markets division.

Previously head of the Bank of England's Foreign Exchange Division, he was appointed to the Bank of England's interest rate-setting Monetary Policy Committee from March 2009 to May 2014. Reports appeared on 18 March 2014 that he would be replaced on the MPC in August 2014 by Minouche Shafik.

Fisher holds a BSc in economics with statistics from the University of Bristol and a PhD in macroeconomic modelling from the University of Warwick.
