Who was Pt. Genda Lal Dixit?
Pt. Genda Lal Dixit was an Indian revolutionary who was a school teacher at Auraiya in the district of Etawah. He was the leader of Shivaji Samiti - a gang of decoits who participated in the revolutionary activities of United Province in the year of 1918 against British Empire. The historical case filed against him by the then British Government is known as Mainpuri Shadyantra. He was arrested by the police and kept in the lock-up at Agra fort and then taken to Mainpuri from where he managed to escape through diplomatic manipulations. He died unknown in a government hospital at Delhi on 21 December 1920. He was a guide to Ram Prasad Bismil with whom he planned to fight against British but unfortunately he could not survive due to his deteriorating health.
