Who is Sir John Davie, 2nd Baronet?

Sir John Davie, 2nd Baronet was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons in 1661.

Davie was the son of Sir John Davie, 1st Baronet and his first wife Juliana Strode, daughter of Sir William Strode of Newnham, Devon and his first wife, Mary Southcote, daughter of Thomas Southcote, of Bovey Tracey. He was baptised on 6 December 1612, at Sandford. He matriculated at Exeter College, Oxford on 2 December 1631 aged 19. He succeeded his father in the baronetcy in October 1654. In 1661, he was elected Member of Parliament for Tavistock in the Cavalier Parliament but only sat for six months. He was Sheriff of Devon from 1670 to 1671.

Davie died at the age of about 67 and was buried at Sandford on 31 July 1678.

Davie had married firstly, Eleanor Acland, daughter of Sir John Acland, 1st Baronet and his wife Elizabeth Vincent, daughter of Sir Francis Vincent, 1st Baronet. She died without issue and he married secondly, in or before 1645, Triphena Reynell, daughter of Richard Reynell, of Lower Creedy, Devon, with whom he had a son and a daughter. She died in 1659 and he married thirdly Amy Parker, daughter of Edmund Parker, of Burrington, Devon and had no issue.
