John 'Sol' Roper is an English professional rugby league footballer of the 1950s and '60s, and coach of the 1960s and '70s, playing at representative level for Cumberland, and at club level captained Hensingham ARLFC, Workington Town, Broughton Moor, and Whitehaven, as a Scrum-half/Halfback, i.e. number 7, and coaching at club level for Whitehaven.
