Who is Sırrı Süreyya Önder?
Sırrı Süreyya Önder is a Turkish film director, actor, screenwriter, columnist and politician. Elected into the parliament as an independent but backed by the Peace and Democracy Party following the Turkish general election, 2011, he later joined the BDP. He is expected to compete in the 2014 municipal elections as the candidate of the Peoples' Democratic Party, the sister party of the BDP, in the race for the mayorship of Istanbul.
