Who is Thomas Pickens Brady?

Thomas Pickens Brady was a justice on the Mississippi Supreme Court and a segregationist leader during the Civil Rights Era. He was appointed to the court in 1963, to complete the unexpired term Justice R. Olney Arrington. In 1965, Time Magazine called Brady "the philosopher of Mississippi's racist white Citizen Councils." He was active in the state's Democratic Party. He advocated disbanding the public schools in order to sidestep rulings requiring integration.
