Who was Tudur Hen?
Tudur Hen or Tudur ap Goronwy was a Welsh aristocrat and a member of the Tudor family of Penmynydd, Anglesey, North Wales. His father Goronwy ab Ednyfed was seneschal to Llywelyn ap Gruffudd, Kingdom of Gwynedd between 1246 and 1256. In 1263 he led a military campaign in Gwent.
Tudur Hen took part in the Madog ap Llywelyn uprising, and is named as Madog's steward in the so-called Penmachno Document. He married Angharad ferch Ithel Fychan, and was a very wealthy landowner.
He died in 1311 and was buried in the Dominican friary at Bangor.
