Who is Valampuri John?
Valampuri John was a Tamil writer, orator and former Rajya Sabha member of India
He was Born in Uvari village in Tirunelveli district, he started his career as an advocate and activist of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.
He had authored several books on different subjects including literature, politics and Siddha medicine. He edited "Thaai", a Tamil periodical, launched by the late Chief Minister, M. G. Ramachandran.
Mr. John had authored several books on different subjects including literature, politics and Siddha medicine.In 1992 he completed his dissertation "Prof.Ruthnaswamy - A Parliamentarian" to Pachaiyappa's College in for the Master's Degree in History
He was elected to Rajya Sabha in 1974 and 1984. He became a member of the then Legislative Council in 1983.
Tamil writer and former Rajya Sabha member, Valampuri John, was undergoing treatment for kidney failure. He died at a private hospital here on May 9, 2005. The end came at 3.15 a.m., family sources said. He was 59 old.
He is survived by his wife, four daughters and son.
The DMK president, M. Karunanidhi, the TNCC president, G.K. Vasan, the general secretary of the MDMK, Vaiko, the DPI general secretary, Thol. Thirumavalavan, condoled the death.
