Who is William D. Wood?

William D. Wood was an American Union brevet brigadier general during the period of the American Civil War. He began the war serving as aide-de-camp to Hamilton Gamble, governor of Missouri. He received his appointment as brevet brigadier general dated to March 13, 1865.
