Who was William Fletcher?

William Fletcher was an author and steam traction engine designer.

William Fletcher is regarded as a doyen of Victorian and Edwardian steam traction engine design. Some twenty of his beautiful engines survive in preservation in 2010:- 'Maynarch'; 'Excelsior', 'Peggy' and 'Victoria'.

Many of Fletcher's original build books and drawings are held at the Museum of English Rural Life, University of Reading, Berkshire, UK.
