Who is William Lochead?
William Lochead FRSE MWS was a Scottish surgeon and botanist. He served as the curator of the St Vincent Botanical Garden, succeeding his friend Alexander Anderson.
The son of John Lochead, William was born in Paisley circa 1753. He graduated MD from Glasgow University in 1775 and served as a surgeon in Antigua in the West Indies.
He died at St Vincent on 22 March 1815.
