Who is Wim van Duyl?
Willem Paul "Wim" van Duyl was a sailor from the Netherlands, who represented his native country as at the 1948 Summer Olympics in Torbay. Wim with fellow crew member Biem Dudok van Heel, on the Dutch Dragon Joy, took the 8th place with helmsman Kees Jonker. At the 1952 Olympics, Helsinki, Van Duyl returned as helmsman of the Dutch Dragon Thalatta with the brothers Biem and Michiel Dudok van Heel as crew. They took 6th place. Van Duyl's next Olympic regatta was during the 1960 Olympics, Rome. Again with Biem Dudok van Heel but also with Jacq van den Berg as crew. This time Van Duyl took 13th place. The last Olympic appearance of Van Duyl was during the Olympic Games 1964. As helmsman of the Dutch Dragon, Van Duyl, with crew members Henny Scholtz, Jan Jongkind and Dick Wayboer. The team took the 13th place.
In the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne Van Duyl was the Dragon helmsman for the Dutch Olympic team. However after the Soviet invasion in Hungary the Dutch government decided that the Dutch Olympic team would not compete.
Van Duyl was CEO of Bull Nederland and later Honeywell Bull Netherlands
