Yvonne Hélène Fransman
Female, Deceased Person
1931 – 1944
Who was Yvonne Hélène Fransman?
In 1941, Yvonne Hélène Fransman was registered at her parents’ home on Biesboschstraat. Before that she had probably lived on Maasstraat, above a patisserie. She attended the 6th Montessori School (now the Anne Frank School) on Niersstraat in Amsterdam. When Jewish children were no longer allowed to go to school, she and many others were taught by a teacher who lived opposite the school. When the family had to go into hiding, Yvonne ended up with an elderly farming couple in Aalten. She was expected to work hard there, and was basically treated as a servant. In January or February 1944 someone betrayed her. In Westerbork she met her mother’s sister. Yvonne sent a postcard from Westerbork with the (standard) text that she was doing well and that she and Aunt Alie were in the same building. Soon after that she was deported to Auschwitz.
