He was an former All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam politician.He Won in 1984 Parliament Election with 52.93% of votes for ALL INDIA ANNA DRAVIDA MUNNETRA KAZHAGAM party in Vellore constituency.Also he was an Former MLA elected to Tamilnadu state Assembly.He belongs to Vellala Mudaliars or Vellalar caste. He is also the founder and Chancellor of Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute.
