Who is Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal?

Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal is Afghanistan's Minister of Economy, and the Head of Hizb-i Islami Afghanistan. He was once allied with Islamist warlord Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, but in 2008 he was elected chairman of a moderate breakaway faction of Hekmatyar's party.

Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal earned a BA in economics, before working at the planning ministry in 1977and then he went to USA where he was driving a taxi and then he was expel from hizb e islami due to his spying activities for iran.after US invasion he become a part of hizb e islami delegation and then after he made a conspirancy against khalid farooqi the leader of that delaegation and become the chairman of so-called hizb e islami with the support of Iran. When the civil war broke out he fled to Pakistan.

He has served as Finance Minister in 1996. Arghandiwal has also served as advisor to President Hamid Karzai over tribal affairs. On January 16, 2010, he was appointed as Minister of Economy by gaining vote of Confidence from the Afghan Parliament.
