Who is Afonso Domingues?
Afonso Domingues was the main architect to whom the original design of Batalha Abbey can be traced. He directed the works from 1388 until 1402. The building took about 150 years to build so several subsequent architects had stong influences on the building. However the Royal Cloister and Chapter House both appear to be almost entirely his.
