Who is Allan Jay?
Allan Louis Neville Jay MBE was a British foil and épée fencer.
One of the greatest fencers in British history, Jay competed in five Olympiads in both épée and foil, winning two medals.
Jay won silver medals at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome in both Individual and Team Epee.
In 1959, he won the World Championship Individual Foil title, and took second place in the Individual Epee event. At other World Championships, Jay took bronze in Team Foil in 1955, the 1957 bronze in Individual Foil, and was a silver medalist in 1965 in Team Epee.
Jay is Jewish. At the 1953 Maccabiah Games in Israel, he won three gold medals, and he repeated the feat at the 1957 Maccabiah Games.
