Who is Ampasayya Naveen?

Dr. 'Ampasayya' Naveen is a Telugu novelist. He is an Osmania University alumni, and his college life at OU inspired his first novel, Ampasayya. His novel Kala Rekhalu won the Sahitya Academy Award award in 2004.

Naveen is his pen name. Name given at birth was Mallaiah and family name is Dongari. He worked as a lecturer at S.R.R Degree Collage, Karimnagar and in Warangal. He was the founder president of Karimnagar Film Society in 1977. He has established the non profit institution Navodhaya School in Karimnagar, later this noble concept has adopted by Union Govt. of India. Naveen is a rationalist and progressive minded writer. Dagudu Muthalu, Katesina Kaatinyam, Mouna Raagalu, and Kala Rekhalu are some of his literary works. His novel Prathyusha highlighted the exploitation by private school system and Cheekati Rojulu on emergency atrocities fetched him good name and fame. His first novel AMPASAYYA was written in stream of consciousness format and created ripples in Telugu literary circles. thus his name became Ampasayya Naveen.
