Andy Knowles
Drums, Musical Artist
1981 –
Who is Andy Knowles?
Andy Knowles is an artist, director and drummer.
However, Knowles is best known as being the man who holds the current world record for destroying the model village at Legoland, Windsor, using 'your implement of choice'. He set the record of 54 minutes 43 seconds in June 2012 using a judges gavel gaffer taped to an aluminium broom handle. In trials, Knowles had discovered aluminium's lightness, compared to wood, helped facilitate quick times.
The record had previously been held John Craven who used a shepherd's crook to set a time of 55 minutes flat way back in 1978, a record many felt unbeatable, although Tony Gubba had come close in 1996 with a time of 55 minutes 9 seconds using a 4 day old hardened baguette, a performnace which, at the time, Garth Crooks described as 'remarkable'.
