Who is Ann Marie Fleming?

Ann Marie Fleming is an independent Canadian filmmaker, writer, and visual artist who was born in Okinawa, in 1962, of Chinese and Australian parentage. She has a B.A. in English from the University of British Columbia, a B.F.A. from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and the Open University, and a B.F.A. from Simon Fraser University.

She was a writer/director resident at the Canadian Film Centre in Toronto and an artist in residence at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart and a graduate film advisor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She co-founded Global Mechanic, an animation/film/design production house, in Vancouver. Ann Marie also happens to be the great-granddaughter of the legendary magician, acrobat and vaudeville performer Long Tack Sam, and in 2003 completed a documentary film based on his life.
