Who was Anthony Mitchell?
Anthony Mitchell was bishop of Aberdeen and Orkney from 1912 to 1917.
He was consecrated in 1892, after studying at Aberdeen University, Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, Edinburgh University and the Episcopal Theological College. In 1905 he became canon of St. Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh, and was appointed Bishop of Aberdeen and Orkney in 1912, a post he held until his death. In addition to his clerical work, he was a respected ecclesiastical historian.
