Who is Arden Wilken?
Arden Wilken is an American musician and music therapist. Born in Santa Rosa, California, she married Jack Wilken in 1978, and they have three children.
Arden graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with a bachelor's degree in music theory. Arden and her husband began researching the effects of sound and music on humans in 1978. Through their research, they have developed Inner Sound, a system of sound and music therapy encompassing 23 recorded CDs, tuning forks, and voice work.
The basis of the system is a series of 50 motifs, or short musical phrases, that Arden identified after composing some 10,000 personal musical pieces. Arden began playing the piano at age eight, and also had a unique ability to observe how music affected the human energy system. By using this ability she began playing improvised compositions for people, focusing the music to areas or aspects that appeared to be blocked. After composing many of these pieces, she observed a pattern in the sequences of notes she was using, and this was the beginning of the development of Inner Sound.
Arden and Jack are co-founders of the International Association of Sound Therapy. As of 2005 they continue to travel the world sharing their work.
