Who was Bishnubrata Bhattachrya?
Bishnubrata Bhattacharya was born in Harishchandrapur, Malda, West Bengal. He was a prominent academician of West Bengal and one of the pioneers of Teachers' Movement in the Post Independence era of India. He was President of Head Masters' Association of West Bengal, and General Secretary, All India Federation for Educational Association until death.
Famous freedom fighter of Malda district, Bishnubrata was the nephew of legendary Bidhusekhar Shastri. His father's name is Shyamapada Bhattacharya. After completing his Post Graduation in three subjects, he went on to become a teacher. Under his guidance, schools like Jadavpur Vidyapith, Bijoygarh Vidyapith and Chanchal Siddheshwari Institution rose to their prominence.
A well-known politician, Bishnubrata had worked as the secretary of ex Education Minister of West Bengal Sourindra Mohan Misra. Author of several books Bishnubrata had sown the seeds of Indira Congress in Malda district, well before Abu Barkat Ganikhan Choudhury. He also contested the assembly elections twice under the banner of Indian National Congress.
