Who is Bruce Tanner?

Bruce Matthew Tanner is an American professional baseball scout and a former pitcher and coach and Major League Baseball. As of 2013, he was listed as a Major League scout by the Detroit Tigers, working out of his home city of New Castle. Tanner attended Florida State University; he stood 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighed 220 pounds during his active career.

He is the son of the late Chuck Tanner, who played all or parts of eight seasons in Major League Baseball and managed in the Majors for 19 seasons for the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates and Atlanta Braves. During Bruce Tanner's one season in the Majors — 1985 with White Sox — his father was in his final season as skipper of the Pirates.
