Who was Carlos Gracie?
Carlos Gracie is the creator and founder of modern Jiu Jitsu. He learned Judo from Mitsuyo Maeda. He created Modern Jiu Jitsu based on his first hand acquired knowledge from Mitsuyo Maeda. He is known as the Founder and Creator of Modern Jiu-Jitsu and as the patriarch of the Gracie Family. His initial training and teaching of Jiu Jitsu was with his brothers, Luis Franca and Oswaldo Fadda popularised the martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He created a martial arts family together with his brother Hélio Gracie as well as other members of the Gracie family.
