Who was Carmen Ordóñez?
Carmen Ordóñez, called Carmina by friends, was a member of famous Spanish bullfighting families. She was the granddaughter, daughter, wife and mother of bullfighters.
Her grandfather was the famous bullfighter Cayetano Ordóñez, known as El Niño de la Palma, the founder of the Ordóñez bullfighting dynasty. Her father was the famous bullfighter Antonio Ordóñez and she was married to a bullfighter, the late Paquirri. Her sons Francisco Rivera Ordóñez and Cayetano Rivera Ordóñez are also bullfighters. She was married three times and had three children, two of them with Paquirri. Her third son, Julian, was born to her marriage with Julian Contreras. She is a cousin of Miguel Bosé and Paola Dominguín. She died of a heart attack in Madrid in 2004.
She loved the city of Seville and its popular traditions such as Holy Week and the April's Fair. She used to visit the Esperanza de Triana, one of the most famous images of the Virgin Mary, located in Triana.
