Who is Sir Crispin Agnew, 11th Baronet?

Major Sir Crispin Hamlyn Agnew of Lochnaw, 11th Baronet QC is an Advocate, officer of arms, former explorer and Chief of the Name and Arms of Agnew. The eleventh holder of a 1629 title in the baronetcy of Nova Scotia.

He is the only son of Sir Fulque Agnew, 10th Baronet and his wife Swanzie Erskine, latterly Professor of Geography at the University of Malawi. He succeeded his father in the baronetcy in 1975.

He was educated at Uppingham School and RMA Sandhurst, before being commissioned into the Royal Highland Fusiliers in 1964. He served in Germany, Cyprus, Northern Ireland and the UK. As an active climber and mountaineer and member of the Alpine Club he was involved with the army's policy of developing adventurous training for soldiers of all ranks. He took part in or led a number of expeditions, including expeditions to Api Himal 1980, Everest 1976, Nuptse Himal 1975, The Northern Ice-cap, Chilean Patagonia 1972/3, Elephant Island, Antarctica 1970/71 and Greenland 1968 & 1966. He retired as a major in 1981.

Agnew is a Queen's Counsel in practice at the Scottish Bar and is a member of Westwater Advocates. He is ranked by Chambers UK 2012 as a "Star Individual".
