Who was David B. Eskind?

David B. Eskind was a radio scriptwriter and producer. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee and studied writing under Thornton Wilder at the University of Chicago, from which he graduated in 1934. For the next several years he wrote radio scripts for NBC and CBS. During World War II he served in the Army in the Pacific as a writer-producer of Army education and information programs. After the war he joined the staff of the Armed Forces Radio Service in Washington, D.C., where he became a civilian writer-producer of radio shows. In 1953 he became the producer and chief writer of the “Army Hour,” which was broadcast on the Army’s worldwide radio network.
