Who is David Walker?

David Stuart Walker is the current Bishop of Manchester. He was announced as the Bishop-designate of Manchester on 5 June 2013, and enthroned on 30 November 2013. He was educated at Manchester Grammar School, competing in the International Mathematical Olympiad in 1975, and King's College, Cambridge. After a period of study at Queen's College, Birmingham he was ordained in 1983. His career began with a curacy at St Mary Handsworth, after which he was Team Vicar at Maltby, then Bramley before ordination to the episcopate. A keen hill walker, he is married to Sue and has two children.
