Who is Don Downe?
Donald Richard Downe is a farmer and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Lunenburg West in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1993 to 2003 as a Liberal member.
He was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Downe was a poultry farm owner and was president of the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture. In 1992, he ran for the leadership of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party, losing on the second ballot to John Savage. He served in the province's Executive Council as Minister of Natural Resource, Minister of Business and Consumer Services and Minister of Transportation and Public Works. Downe was elected mayor of the Municipality of Lunenburg in 2008. He lives in Wileville.
