Who is Dori J. Maynard?

Dori J. Maynard is the President of the Robert C. Maynard Institute for Journalism Education in Oakland, California, the oldest organization dedicated to helping the nation's news media accurately and fairly portray all segments of our society. In its 33 year history, the Institute has trained thousands of journalists of color, including the national editor of the Washington Post, the editor of the Oakland Tribune and the only Latina to edit a major metropolitan newspaper. She is the co-author of Letters to My Children which is a compilation of nationally syndicated columns by her late father Robert C. Maynard, with introductory essays by Dori. She serves on the board of the Sigma Delta Chi Foundation, as well as the Board of Visitors for the John S. Knight Fellowships.
