Who was Doris Wells?
Doris Marina Buonafina, better known as Doris Wells was a Venezuelan actress, writer, and director. She is best known for her roles in the most successful telenovelas of the late twentieth century and for her role in the movie Oriana by Fina Torres.
Some of her best-known television roles were in Campeones, written by Guillermo Meneses; La trepadora, Pobre negro, and La Hora, based on the writing of Rómulo Gallegos; and La señora de Cárdenas by José Ignacio Cabrujas, Fausto Verdial and Julio César Mármol.
In 1985 she played the protagonist in the movie Oriana, a movie that won the Golden Camera at the Cannes Film Festival. She retired from television in 1986 shortly after hosting the game show Concurso millonario. Two years later she was stricken with terminal cancer and died at the age of 44.
