Who is Douglas W. Elmendorf?

Douglas W. Elmendorf is an American economist who is the Director of the Congressional Budget Office under Speaker of the House of Representatives John Boehner. He was a Brookings Institution senior fellow from 2007 to 2009, and was a director of the Hamilton Project at Brookings. Joining the Congressional Budget Office in late December 2008, Elmendorf is responsible for providing estimates of the cost of legislation on the federal budget.
