Who was Erhard Mösslacher?
Erhard Mösslacher was an Obersturmführer in the Waffen-SS during World War II. He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II.
Erhard Mösslacher was born on the 16 June 1921, in Weißbach bei Lofer Austria. During World War II he volunteered to join the SS-VT and was posted to the 8th SS Cavalry Division Florian Geyer. He was awarded the German Cross in Gold and the Close Combat Clasp in Silver during September 1943. As the commander of the 6th Squadron, 16th SS Cavalry Regiment he was awarded the Knight's Cross on 9 February, just before being killed in action near Budapest on the 12 February 1945.
