Who was Francis Bourgeois?
Sir Peter Francis Lewis Bourgeois RA was a landscape and history painter, and court painter to king George III of the United Kingdom. He also became an art dealer and collector in association with Margaret and Noel Desenfans, and with them he was a founder of Dulwich Picture Gallery, London. He was born in Britain but was of Swiss ancestry.
