Who was Francis Thackeray?
Francis Thackeray was a Church of England clergyman and author.
Thackeray was the sixth son of William Makepeace Thackeray, and uncle to William Makepeace Thackeray the novelist. Educated at Pembroke College, Cambridge, he was curate of Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. Macaulay criticized his History of William Pitt, 1st Earl of Chatham for its uncritical praise of Pitt.
